CAKE SALE FUNDRAISER FOR ISOBEL GALL
Thank you to everyone who joined us on 8th December to raise money for Isobel. Altogether we raised £1000, thanks to your generous donations.
Join us for coffee and a cake on Saturday 8th December, or place an order with us on the day, to help raise money for Isobel Gall.
Isobel’s father has worked with Peppermill for several years, helping to produce some of our bespoke furniture. In August this year he had to face every father’s worst nightmare, to be told that his daughter had been diagnosed with cancer.
Isobel, who is 28, has worked as a bus driver for National Express in the West Midlands for a number of years, and won Bus Driver of the Year on 1st July this year; by the end of July Isobel was admitted into hospital as she became unwell. Isobel was diagnosed with Peritoneal Mesothelioma on 11th August 2018.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the lining of the abdomen. Isobel’s cancer is stage 4, which is the most advanced stage. Unfortunately, the prognosis for this rare and very aggressive type of cancer is poor, and she has been told that her illness is incurable.
2500 people each year are diagnosed with Mesothelioma in the UK. 20% of those have Peritoneal Mesothelioma (the form that affects the abdomen lining), and sufferers are typically aged between 50 and 80 when diagnosed. At just 28, Isobel’s case is quite unusual.
Isobel says that although her prognosis isn’t great, she is living life to the full and is planning a trip next year to go to Amritsar, India, to see the Golden Temple – somewhere she has always wanted to visit. We are hoping to raise money to help Isobel fund her trip to India.
Visit our showroom from 10am-5pm on Saturday 8th December where we will be selling coffee and cakes; the proceeds from the cake sale will go to Isobel. We will also be donating 5% of all orders placed on the day to Isobel.
