When we were creating “The Barn Kitchen” at Peterley Manor Farm, we worked hard to blend modern design with traditional and reclaimed elements to reflect our farming heritage. Our converted tractor barn was painstakingly clad in carefully selected reclaimed timbers and we upcycled farming relics into light fixtures. Peppermill Interiors allowed us to successfully merge antiques and reclaimed pieces with newer items to create a space which is unique but also familiar and informal. We particularly love the Jasper chairs, the earthy colours compliment our aesthetic perfectly whilst the velvet adds texture and sophistication!
As far as homegrown, rustic, British food goes, ‘The Barn Kitchen’ is the epitome of high quality, locally sourced produce and deliciousness. With a range of products to buy, from juices to honey, Peterley Manor Farm is a top-notch ‘English country’ experience.
Combining rustic materials and vintage charm, The Barn Kitchen is a converted tractor barn, paying homage to its rural setting and history by using reclaimed materials, with vintage furniture sprinkled throughout. Traditional style chairs paired with luxe velvet and nods to industrialist style with the metal based tables and worn metal sideboards makes this space a warm and inviting place to be.
Agriculture & Sustainability
Taking agricultural farm life, tipping it upside down, shaking it and taking the lid off has produced a jaw dropping interior that respects its history and originality. Funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the barn now has a kitchen, has created more jobs for the local community and is now open all year round.
The food menu features sustainable ingredients from plenty of local suppliers and the interior mirrors this too, featuring lots of wood, brick and concrete. The wood and metal tables paired with wooden cross back chairs reflect the rustic, traditional ‘country farm’ style of the kitchen.
A Sprinkle of Contemporary Class
A comfy Chesterfield sits just in front of the statement zig zag bar, but the velvet dining benches and velvet chairs soften the space, while the black steel legs complement the rest of the industrial theme. The pinks and greys add a touch of romance to the barn, without it looking a little too modern, the decorative stitching on both benches and chairs create a little unity and builds a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
English Country Garden
A big green, distressed metal vintage sideboard sits in the kitchen’s garden, surrounded by vintage stacking chairs in green and blue, which completes the industrial composition. With corrugated roof sheets and metal structures The Barn Kitchen is an amazing homage to agriculture, enveloped by large green trees and stunning fields that stretch far and wide – what better way could you spend you weekend than sipping coffee at The Barn Kitchen eating beautifully sourced food, looking out across the pastures and sitting in some seriously comfy furniture!
